Air Release Valves & Vacuum Breakers

Air release valves play a critical role in large seawater piping systems. They should always be located at every high point in the piping system to make sure that they can remove the air as it collects. In doing so they reduce the cushion effects which can reduce pump efficiency and increase energy consumption. By removing air from the pipeline they help to reduce surge conditions.

Vacuum breakers are important to prevent vacuum conditions being created in a pipe system which can result in cavitation and equipment failure.

It is important to correctly size these valves to make sure that sufficient air flow passes through the valve during filling and emptying of a pipeline. Correctly sized equipment will reduce in lower operating costs (pump energy consumption) and less maintenance (damaged equipment).

All our air release valves incorporate a solid float to ensure that they cannot collapse in service.
