The world's first hybrid ferry uses HIDE tank vent check valves
The MS Fjordline is the first hybrid ferry in the world, running between Haugesund and a small island called Røvær. The ferry runs on electricity as it coasts near land and diesel when it is operating at high speed. The ferry has place for 89 passengers and is 24 meters long, 7 meters wide.
Vents are protected with the John Gjerde HIDE tank check valve which prevents seawater ingress to the tanks. The HIDE is a high quality valve which puts safety first and is economical, light and very compact. They can be installed in tight spaces and still be very easy to maintain.
